One-component, polymer-modified cement-based bonding primer for reinforcement corrosion protection.

BEYEM ARMADURAS is a one-component, polymer-modified cement-based bonding primer for reinforcement corrosion protection. Formulated with sulfate resistant cement, silica fume, synthetic resin, active pigments and last generation migratory inhibitors. Specially suitable in concrete repair as reinforcement corrosion protection.

BEYEM ARMADURAS is suitable for:

Steel reinforcement: Rust, scale, oil, grease mortar, dust and other loose and deleterious material which reduces bond or contributes to corrosion shall be removed. Rusty exposed reinforcement must be cleaned by   metal brushing, sandblasting  or high pressure water-blasting to reach Sa21/2 grade. If steel bar reinforcement is totally rusty, repair area must be enlarged until finding  reinforcement in good conditions.

Concrete: Concrete must be free from dust, loose material, surface contamination and materials which reduce  bond or prevent suction or wetting  by repair materials. Where necessary, concrete  must be cleaned by sandblasting, high pressure water jetting or other approved mechanical methods that do not cause vibration or impact, to leave a clean and keyed surface. Absorbent substrates should be previously wetted until they are saturated, preventing waterlogging, and applying the mortar  once the surface has a matt appearance. Smooth, slightly absorbent or very damaged substrates should be treated to obtain a surface with minimum guarantees of roughness and tensile strength. Minimum roughness of at least 5 mm. For more information regarding substrate preparation, refer to the recommendations provided in EN 1504-10.

Mix mechanically BEYEM ARMADURAS with  1,05-1,15 l of clean water per 5 kg pail, until a homogeneous, fluid/liquid  and lump-free consistency is obtained. Let the mix stand for 5 minutes before application.

As a reinforcement protection: Apply a first layer approx. 1,0 mm thick using medium hard brush or spray gun to cleaned reinforcement. When first coat is hard to the finger nail, for guidance ≈ 4 to 5 hours at 20ºC, apply a second layer approximately 1,0 mm thick.

As a bonding primer: Application must be made using medium hard brush or spray gun on the substrate previously prepared (pre-wetted). Subsequent repair mortar must be applied while the bonding primer is still fresh.

  • Do not apply below 5ºC or above 30ºC.
  • Do not apply when there is risk of frost, rain, strong wind or direct sunlight.
  • Do not add water in excess of the recommended dosage .
  • Mix only sufficient material that can be applied  using available labour and equipment.

BEYEM ARMADURAS is packed in 5 kg plastic  pails.

Storage: when stored unopened in a cool dry place, shelf life is 12 months from date of manufacture.

Tools can be cleaned easily with water before the product hardens. Hardened product can be removed only mechanically.

Protection of reinforcement against corrosion in a concrete structures must be carried out with one-component, polymer-modified cement-based bonding primer for reinforcement corrosion protection compliant with EN 1504-7, such as Beyem Armaduras manufactured by Rodacal Beyem Company. Coverage will be ≈ 2,2 kg / m2.
