Ultra-light thermal insulation basecoat mortar for Beyem Aislaterm System.

BEYEM AISLATERM is an ultra-light thermal insulation render, formulated with hydraulic binders, selected aggregates, expanded polystyrene,  special additives and mineral pigments.  Especially suitable for energy saving  rehabilitation and ventilated facades. BEYEM AISLATERM is the basecoat of Beyem Aislaterm  Thermal Insulation System.

Ultra-light thermal insulation render for facades and walls both in  interior and exterior situations. Especially suitable for energy saving  rehabilitation and ventilated facades. For exterior application in a different use than the execution of ventilated façades, it is necessary to finish with BEYEM COLORTERM, high performance one coat mortar specially designed for BEYEM AISLATERM; BEYEM NEOCAL FINO, breathable and waterproof lime mortar for facade decoration suitable for the BEYEM AISLATERM system, BEYEM THERMIDUR F extra-fine, flexible, colored mineral coating for decorative finishing of facades; PÉTREX 5 MORTERO ACRÍLICO or PÉTREX 5 MORTERO AL POLISILOXANO.

BEYEM AISLATERM is suitable for:

  • Brickwork. Ceramic bricks.
  • Concrete blocks.
  • Concrete  (treated with BEYEM UNIÓN MORTEROS adhesion promoter primer).
  • Cement based substrates and cement/lime  based substrates.

Substrates must be clean, compact and  free of substances that reduce adhesion such as dust, oil, grease and with no loose material. Substrates must submit an adequate porosity and surface roughness. Dampen substrates with water  to cool down if they should be too warm, in case of wind or over absorbent substrates  and wait until the thin layer of water disappears. It is a good practice curing with a fine spray of clean water  24 h after application. Do not apply on cellular concrete, gypsum based plasters, paint, plastic, wood or materials with  low mechanical properties.

Mix manually of mechanically BEYEM AISLATERM with 11,0-14,0 l per bag of clean water until a homogeneous, creamy and lump-free paste  is obtained. Let the mix stand for 5 minutes before application.

To apply with render  spray machine, it´s necessary to set the relation water/mortar  and pump pressure depending on section and length of hose  and climatology conditions. It´s important to maintain the  variables affecting the properties of the applied mortar (distance to the wall, angle of application and water proportion). Fix corners profiles and reinforcement mesh in gaps taking into account final coat. Treat conveniently the singular points. Spread the mixed product manually or mechanically leaving  20-60 mm of thickness, with a 30 mm of  maximum  thickness per layer. For final thicknesses greater than 30 mm, BEYEM AISLATERM must be applied in two layers of equal thickness, incorporating to the first of them complementary mechanical fixings (glass fiber mesh fixed to the substrate using fasteners ). Leave at least 24 hours to set the material between the first and second layer. Press to ensure adhesion and expel the air contained in the pores. Smooth with a ruler the applied material to regulate thickness. Expansion joints must be  respected by all applied materials. BEYEM AISLATERM must be finished with any product mentioned above in case of exterior works (except in case of ventilated facades). Before overcoating, allow to dry 1 day for each centimeter of applied material (the drying time may vary depending on the weather conditions). In the application on ventilated facades, the fasteners  must be fixed on the brickwork , not in the insulation mortar.

  • Always mix with the specified amount of water.
  • Do not apply below 5ºC or above 30ºC.
  • Do not apply when there is  risk of frost, rain, strong wind or direct sunlight.
  • It is not advisable to apply on horizontal or sloped surfaces.
  • Protect top edges of facade from rainwater penetration.
  • Reinforce the critical points of facade  before first layer of basecoat using reinforcement mesh of 160 gr/ m2 and fasteners.
  • Demarcate pieces of work using PVC battens previously placed.
  • Expansion joints should be included as required by the substrate and respected by all applied materials.
  • It is necessary to use a primer on too high absorption substrates, as a cellular concrete, or on very low absorption substrates.

Tools can be cleaned easily with water  before the product hardens. Hardened product can be remove only mechanically.

Thermal Insulation of facade must be carried out with ultra-light thermal insulation basecoat mortar compliant with EN 998-1-Class T CSI W1 such as Beyem Aislaterm,  manufactured by Rodacal Beyem company. Coverage will be ≈ 3,0 kg/m2 per cm of  thickness. The substrate must be clean, sound, compact and dimensionally stable. Expansion joints must be respected.
