The walls can be masonry (brick, block) or concrete (made in situ or based on prefabricated panels). The system is intended to provide the wall on which it is installed with satisfactory thermal insulation. This ETICS can be used on vertical surfaces, both in new buildings and in renovations. It can also be used on inclined or horizontal surfaces that are not exposed to rainwater. The system consists of non-load-bearing elements. All substrates must have adequate flatness and present a surface of adequate porosity and roughness. The substrate must not have clear problems of dampness and, where applicable, must have completed its curing shrinkage and its maturing period must have been respected. Weak, damaged or deteriorated concrete and, where necessary, sound concrete must be removed by suitable manual or mechanical means that do not cause vibration or impact. The starting profile must be positioned at least \u2265 15 cm from the ground, so that the system does not come into direct contact with the ground. Likewise, it must be waterproofed from ground level up to \u2265 30 cm in height, using <a href=\"https:\/\/rodacal.com\/en\/producto\/beyem-proof-flexible\/\">Beyem Proof Flexible<\/a>, to avoid dampness due to filtration or capillary action from the outside. The waterproofing must exceed the level of the starting profile by at least 15 cm. The waterproofing from zero level to the starting profile can be finished using <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/rodacal.com\/en\/producto\/beyem-cril\/\">Beyem Cril<\/a><\/strong>, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/rodacal.com\/en\/producto\/beyem-cril-polixilosano\/\">Beyem Cril Polisiloxano<\/a><\/strong> Mortar or by laying a ceramic or natural stone skirting board, etc. using the Rodacal Beyem range of cementitious adhesives.<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Starting the system below ground level: In this case, an XPS insulating panel with a thickness less than or equal to the thickness of the XPS insulating panel used in the system will be installed initially. This insulation board shall be buried and must protrude \u2265 15 cm above ground level. The starter profile shall be placed on top of the XPS panel, leaving a separation joint between the starter profile and the XPS panel of approx. 2-5 mm, which shall be sealed with polyurethane. Likewise, the aforementioned shall be taken into account with regard to the waterproofing (starting from \u2265 15 cm below the starting profile of the panels) and the finishing of the same.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<strong>Laying of insulation boards<\/strong>\r\n\r\nThe fixing of XPS boards shall be carried out with Beyem Adheterm adhesion mortar. The XPS insulation boards should be installed from the bottom upwards, with each row of boards resting on top of the previous row, except for the first row, which rests directly on the starting profile. At the corners, the ends of the panels should alternate. There are two different laying techniques depending on the planimetry of the substrate:\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li>Edge and point fixing: used on substrates with irregularities of between 5 and 10 mm (measured with a 2 m ruler) and for boards \u2265 40 mm. The contact surface with the substrate shall be at least 60%. To do this, <a href=\"https:\/\/rodacal.com\/en\/producto\/beyem-adheterm\/\">Beyem Adheterm<\/a> is applied with a width of 5 cm around the entire perimeter of the panel and about 2 cm from the edge of the panel and also in the centre of the panel, where several coats of adhesive mortar are applied.<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Fixing by means of a notched trowel: this is used when the flatness of the substrate is less than 5 mm measured with a 2 m ruler and for panels &lt; 40 mm. Beyem Adheterm is spread over the entire surface of the board, keeping about 2 cm of the board edges free, and then combed with the help of a notched trowel of at least no. 10.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<strong>Mechanical fixing of insulation boards<\/strong>\r\n\r\nAt least 24 hours after the adhesion of the XPS boards, additional mechanical fasteners must be installed, using anchor plugs in a minimum quantity of 6 units per m2 and 8 units per m2 in heights of more than 25 metres. The fixings shall be placed on the perimeter and in the centre of the panels.\r\n\r\n<strong>Installation of reinforcement profiles<\/strong>\r\nThe corners and edges of existing\u00a0 ETIC BEYEM FORTE\u00a0 openings must be protected and reinforced by using reinforcing profiles. These should be installed at least 24 hours after fixing the XPS panels. The most common singular points are usually:\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li>Facade corners, windows and doors: PVC corner profile with fibreglass mesh is used. A layer of Beyem Adheterm is applied to the corner surfaces by spreading it along the profile and the mesh and then the profile is placed, pressing it gently. The protruding mortar is used to cover the mesh and the profile and to even it out.<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Window lintel and window sill: Window lintels should be reinforced with the PVC drip profile with mesh to prevent water run-off on the facade planes. The installation method is identical to that of the PVC corner profile with mesh. The sills must have a minimum outward slope of 10\u00b0 to ensure water drainage. They must also have an overhang in the horizontal plane of about 3-4 cm with a drip edge that protrudes from the plane of the fa\u00e7ade enclosure. The self-adhesive PVC window frame profile with fibreglass mesh allows the ETIC to be connected to the frames of the window structure openings without leaving gaps or spaces.<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Top finish and expansion joints: The top finish of the fa\u00e7ade must prevent water from running directly onto the fa\u00e7ade. For this purpose, the crowning profile must be used and screwed in the same way as the starting profile. This profile should be installed before the last row of insulation boards and should overhang the horizontal plane by 3-4 cm. The upper part of the meeting point of this profile and the support where it is fixed must always be protected (by the eaves of the fa\u00e7ade or overhang, another profile, polyurethane&#8230;). Expansion joints are resolved by using the PVC expansion joint profile with fibreglass mesh. The installation method is identical to that of the PVC corner profile, except that in this case there is a double edge. The strip contained in the profile is inserted into the expansion joint and then the cover of the profile is inserted.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<strong>Fibreglass mesh reinforcement<\/strong>\r\nThere are a series of singular points on the fa\u00e7ade that must be reinforced with fibreglass mesh (Mesh 160). These reinforcements should be installed at least 24 hours after the insulating panels have been fixed.\r\nThe singular points to be reinforced are:\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li>Corners of fa\u00e7ade openings (windows, doors, &#8230;): 20&#215;40 cm strips are cut and fixed with Beyem Adheterm at all corners (at 45o) or corner reinforcement mesh (pre-cut mesh) is used.<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Accessible areas exposed to impact (skirtings): In the area to be reinforced, Beyem Adheterm is stretched over the XPS panels. The fibreglass mesh is then stretched horizontally and embedded in the adhesive mortar. This layer should be at least 1.5-2 mm thick. The joints between the meshes must overlap by at least 10 cm. The installation of this reinforcement mesh shall be additional to the installation of the main mesh.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<strong>Installation of the main fibreglass mesh<\/strong>\r\nAfter at least 24 hours from the installation of the reinforcement profiles and reinforcing mesh, the main mesh (Mesh 160) is installed, which is the mesh that covers the entire surface of the facing and overlaps with the rest of the mesh reinforcements that have been previously installed. For installation, Beyem Adheterm will be spread over the XPS panels or over previously reinforced areas. The thickness shall be evened out with a 6 mm trowel. On the combed surface, spread the mesh from top to bottom with an overlap of at least 10 cm between meshes. The mesh shall be pressed against the mortar grooves so that it is embedded. After 24 hours a second coat of Beyem Adheterm smooth should be applied to prepare the coating prior to finishing. The minimum thickness of the Beyem Adheterm coating layer on the board should be 3 mm.\r\n\r\nDecorative finish <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/rodacal.com\/en\/producto\/beyem-cril\/\">Beyem Cril <\/a><\/strong>Mortar or <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/rodacal.com\/en\/producto\/beyem-cril-polixilosano\/\">Beyem Cril Polisiloxano <\/a><\/strong>Mortar\r\nThe decorative finish consists of two phases:\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li><strong style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #3a3a3a;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/rodacal.com\/en\/producto\/beyem-cril-liso\/\">Beyem Cril Fondo Liso<\/a><\/strong>: At least 48 hours after the last smoothing coat of Beyem Adheterm, a coat of <strong style=\"font-size: 16px;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/rodacal.com\/en\/producto\/beyem-cril-liso\/\">Beyem Cril Fondo Liso<\/a><\/strong>, optionally diluted with 5% water, shall be applied, allowing it to penetrate the surface <strong style=\"font-size: 16px;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/rodacal.com\/en\/producto\/beyem-cril-liso\/\">Beyem Cril Fondo Liso<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0can be applied by brush, roller or spray. This primer acts as an absorption equaliser and adhesion promoter for subsequent finishing with Petrex 5 Acrylic Mortar or Petrex 5 Polysiloxane Mortar. If the mortar is to be applied with a cut-out, it is advisable to apply a second coat to reinforce the parts where the pattern will be marked.<\/li>\r\n \t<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/rodacal.com\/en\/producto\/beyem-cril\/\">Beyem Cril<\/a> <\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">Mortar or <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/rodacal.com\/en\/producto\/beyem-cril-polixilosano\/\">Beyem Cril Polisiloxano<\/a><\/strong> Mortar: At least 6 hours after the previous phase, apply <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/rodacal.com\/en\/producto\/beyem-cril\/\">Beyem Cril<\/a><\/strong> Mortar or <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/rodacal.com\/en\/producto\/beyem-cril-polixilosano\/\">Beyem Cril Polisiloxano<\/a><\/strong> Mortar with a stainless steel trowel or spray gun, spreading it uniformly over the surface.
